Now Rob's pal reckons this shot above was taken in 1948. Car is pictured on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Now compare it with this:
Pic taken from RnC March 1995. Now, excyuuuuse me, but that top pic is of none other than the renowned Bob Mc Gee roadster. So either Robs pal (from an online drag racing game) is Bob Mc gee's son, or he sold Rob a pup when he sent the pic. I aint worried, because it's a great shot, but there's a chance I might be sitting on a previously unpublished colour pic of this famous car. Unfortunately Rob has lost touch with the fella that sent the pics.
This one was taken in 1950. That top has a nice low silhouette. Now Rob cheered me up no end when he sent this shot of his 38 Ute in the as found, free for the taking condition. I finally found someone who took on a project rustier than my A-Bone!
Ok this isn't how it looks now (It's in a thousand pieces) but it's Rob's heavily doctored pic of how he wants it to look. I reckon it's gonna be a real cool hauler when it's all sorted. Rob really does know how to cheer me up. Next he sends a pic of a car I could beat with my coupe!
The 31 Sport coupe was taken in '64 at Riverside Dragway, it ran low 19s with a flathead.
My 40 Plymouth sedan and the missus in her 36 5 window in about 1986 headed to the Kangaroo Valley run down the freeway here. Rob said in a later note the Plym took 2 years to sell, and the Ford sold in 2 weeks. He regrets selling now, but we've all done that havn't we. All these shots were taken on the Bourke to Blatheskite charity run. Pic credits are to Chris Edgecombe of the Dragens Hot Rod club in Sydney.
Aussie bodied Ute. year stated as '46.
Desoto appears to have found the answer to avoiding the mud. Drive on the footpath.
'59 Ford wagon seems to have suffered a minor prang. Ok it's time to plagiarise a few old Aussie Hot Rod mags. This little beaut is from 1969.
These four pics circa 1969 from Western Australia. The owner's name at the time was Dave Duncan. '55 Customline 272 Y block, tripower, chrome firewall, polished and chromed '34 front end, aluminium bar grill insert, chrome rear wheels sporting 9.15-15 Firestones, mags on front with 5.90-15s. 8" chanelled, louvered rear 1/4 panels, candy apple red, white top and red deerhide interior. 116" wheelbase and '58 Chevy rail lights.
These pics date from 1964.
These pics are of a channeled '34 owned at the time by Maurice Carpenter of Gladesville Sydney. (Rello of Carps mebbe???) He didn't build the car but purchased it and then started to modify it. Specs were listed as follows. Paint :Royal blue, channeled 4 inches, twin exhaust with cutouts, chrome nerf bars. 6.00X16 fronts and 6.70X16 rears, oil cooler from a refrigerator *LOL* Hydraulic brakes, Armstrong front shocks, louvered bonnet, adjustable tappets. Kleinig sports air filters. 3/4 race cam, Ford Custom crank (49/50 here Rob), Lundberg finned alloy heads (Oz manuf and way rare today I have a marine set here Rob) Electric fuel pump, Lucas headlights, black and gold interios in vinyl with a white dashboard.
