Bill Bentley posted a link to these pics on the flathead chat forum,
I saw them and asked if I could display them here. He not only agreed,
but sent some extra shots as well!
Over to you, Bill!
As a seventeen year old in 1953 I started building ( With
help from my mentor and friend the late Les Woolner) and racing these cars
on 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 Mile clay/dirt tracks, ranging from banked, to almost
flat, County Fair Horse tracks in SW Michigan.
I hope you enjoy some of my nostalgia.
1953 season, '34 5 window coupe.
1954 season, '32 five window coupe.
1955 season, 1932 3 window coupe.
1955 season this car took 1 week to prepare.
1955 same car viewed from the other side.
1956 season.
Got a sponsor, by the end of summer the car was a mess.
However, this car was the best. In 3 successive weeks we cleaned
House, Fast Time,
Fast Car Dash, Pursuit and Feature.
The only known pic of this car.
This was Bill's daily driver- a 47 ford tudor sedan.
This '50 coupe belonged to Bill's buddy. Bill and his pal obviously
keen on skirts.
Bill still likes his flathead powered coupes- this 37 bought just
last year.
Bill, thanks from all of us for sharing these great pictures with
us.
Mart.
