Sent in by Ed Duarte, These shots date from the 40's/50's, when
he raced with the CRA, the California Racing Association.
Ed kindly sent a few words to accompany the pics, (I think he could
see I was struggling trying to caption the pics.)
"Not sure of all the dates but most older stuff is back in the
40's and the sprint car stuff is around 1952-55.
Hal Logan drove for us as did a few other drivers. Jimmy Davies
of Indy fame drove for us as well. Several of the pictures show Rosie Rousell
in a T-Bucket and American Rodder featured his car in the May issue on
page 8. Tex Smith's book Roaring Roadster's shows quite a few pic's of
the CRA Roadster's. I Have some shots of Troy Ruttman as well. Lot
of the big names came from Cal. Number 40-39-25-9 all our car, was a flat
head V-8 full race running three 2's and alky with an in and out gear box.
Note the hand pump for pressure to the fuel tank.Small roll bar was under
the head rest. Those were the days, remember chaining the frame up
to a telephone pole and jacking the bends out of it from a flip or wreck
we had been in the over the weekend and just about rebuilding the entire
engine every week. Once we blew a rear end and went out and found a cherry
1934 Vic two door sedan with suicide doors that had a set of 4-11's in
the rear and then we took that car and dumped it off in some field late
at night miles from home. Man if I only had it now.

Thanks for the blurb, Ed, here are the images.

brakes, and undropped axle on a suicide perch.
car and team are immaculately turned out.
Look at the size of that crowd. Are those Buffalo Wires on that
'23?
Close up detail from above shot. Note complete absense of rollbars.
Wonder if they had lap belts? Ed! help me out here!
